Add subtitles to an MKV file


You can use MKVToolNix to add subtitles to an MKV file. Follow these steps:

📥 1. Download MKVToolNix

🛠️ 2. Install and Open MKVToolNix GUI

  • Install the software and launch the GUI tool.

🎥 3. Add Your MKV Video

  • Click on Add source files and select your MKV video file.

📄 4. Add the Subtitle File

  • Click on Add source files again and select your subtitle file (e.g., .srt or .ass).
  • The subtitle file will appear in the tracks section.

⚙️ 5. Configure Subtitle Settings (Optional)

  • Select the subtitle track from the list.
  • Adjust settings such as language or track name.

🚀 6. Start Muxing

  • Choose the destination file name and location.
  • Click on Start multiplexing to combine the video and subtitles.

7. Verify the File

  • Play the file in a media player (e.g., VLC) to ensure the subtitles are correctly embedded.

Your MKV file is now ready with embedded subtitles!
